BP, Russia’s Rosneft may sign final gas supply deal in 2017

ISTANBUL, Jul 11 (PRIME) – BP and Russian oil major Rosneft may sign a final agreement on exports of up to 20 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Europe in 2017, BP CEO Robert Dudley told PRIME on Tuesday.

The two companies are working on details of a memorandum they signed in 2016. “The agreement will be this year. It (the volume of supply) is a range, we have set up to 20 bcm. These things take time. We have good relationship with Russia,” Dudley said.

In January, media reported citing a letter of Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin to President Vladimir Putin that the company is in talks with BP on a contract for long-term gas exports through Germany. Currently, only gas giant Gazprom is allowed to export Russian natural gas.
